Lessons from the Minaret Ban

In the name of Allah, compassionate & merciful بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Peace be with you السلام عليكم
I personally think this is a good thing. YES a GOOD THING. I can't even begin to tell you how many Muslims I have encountered who live in denial. If you live in a country TRY TO PARTICIPATE IN IT! You don't need to lose you identity, you don't even need to compromise your morals but YOU DO have to participate and be active in your community.

I have friends who refuse to vote THIS is what happens when you don't vote. OTHERS DO IT FOR YOU!

The elephant in the room isn't going to get smaller or go away just by hiding your head in the metaphorical sand. NO. It won't, as it has been clearly evident as more and more anti-Muslim legislation passes in different countries. This is one of MANY wake up calls that the Muslims have received. Honestly when will we wake up and stand up for ourselves (and others)? When ethnic cleansing has become a legal institution and law of the land we live in?

We all know its sunnah to follow the laws of the land we live in. So why not be part of the law making process?

In this global world it is impossible to be an island. YOU CAN'T. Some of my friends have said that they don't want to be responsible for someone evil coming in to office. I ask, do you think you wont be questioned for standing by idly while evil took office? DO SOMETHING. Don't just let things happen to you. It seems that elected officials understand 2 things votes and campaign contribution. So do your due diligence about a candidate and vote responsible and ethically. If there are no good candidates and you think you could do better RUN FOR OFFICE! You may not win this time around but you may have just sparked change in the minds of the next generation. At least in America we legislate what the loudest wants, we should think about that.

I am so frustrated. What is so hard about getting involved in your community? I am not a fan of Barack Obama but lets face it, this dude did something unprecedented AND with a name like Barack HUSSAIN Obama. Come on! How many strikes against him did he have? but was he successful? dang skippy. We have istikhara, we have du'a, we have prayer, we have fasting, we have qiyam and we have Allah swt. What more do you want? We have all the tools we could possible need yet we don't USE them. NO WE DON'T.

Its time to wake up people and be a part of your community. If your community knew who you were and you at least tried to be an example of the Muslim character than these kinds of legislation wouldn't pass. Because what I have encountered is that people fear that which they don't understand.

Americans are not cold hearted people. They just aren't. But they are for the most part ignorant of Muslims and the Muslim character. Maybe if we actually were involved in community activities they would have a chance to get to know us. The Americans I have met both anglo and mixed has been that they ARE good neighbors and good people at heart once you get to know them. So lets do just that.

who the heck bans MINARETS? come on, its insane! These people become bolder and bolder with their anit-muslim-everything.

I do not believe that voting is haraam, because like you said we are suppose to follow laws, but also because its a way of trying to keep the corrupt out of office (which is pretty much impossible since they are all corrupt).
